Frequently Asked Questions

Is CampusMarket free to use?

Yes! CampusMarket is completely free for all DUT students. We don't charge listing fees or take commissions. Our goal is to help students trade safely on campus.

How long does verification take?

Usually within 24 hours. You'll receive a WhatsApp message asking for your DUT student ID photo. Once we verify you're a registered student, your listing goes live immediately.

Can I negotiate prices?

Yes, if the seller marked their listing as "negotiable." Contact them on WhatsApp to discuss. Be respectful and make reasonable offers.

What if I get scammed?

Report it to us immediately and contact DUT campus security. While we verify student status, we cannot guarantee transactions. This is why we strongly recommend meeting on campus, inspecting items, and using cash only.

Can I sell services like tutoring?

Absolutely! We have a dedicated Tutoring category. List your subjects, hourly rate, and available times. Meet students at campus libraries for sessions.

How do I edit or delete my listing?

Go to your Profile page and tap "My Listings." You can mark items as sold or delete them entirely. To edit details, you'll need to delete and create a new listing (editing feature coming soon).

What items are prohibited?

Weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, stolen goods, counterfeit items, and anything that violates DUT policies or South African law. See our Terms of Service for the full list.

Can non-DUT students use this?

No. CampusMarket is exclusively for registered DUT students. We verify every seller with their student ID to maintain a safe, trusted community.
